Referral or not?

If you think you have a problem that needs to be treated by a physiotherapist, you can come to us without a doctor’s referral. This is called Direct Access to Physiotherapy (DTF).

At your first appointment we will then have a short interview, in which we assess whether or not we can help you. This interview is called “screening”. If we think we can help you, we immediately proceed with the physical examination.

If we think your doctor should check you first, or you would be better off helped by someone else (a specialist or manual therapist for instance), we will refer you back to your GP.

When we start your treatment, we will notify your GP that you have come to us for treatment of your problem.

Note that for treatment at home or for edema therapy you always need a referral! This is also the case for serious illnesses and after surgery.
